seafood themed name. Red was an established seafood restaurant chain by the 1970s.
One of the reasons that Red was so successful was that there was not yet a seafood themed national chain restaurant yet. Sure there were restaurants that were popular chains that carried seafood of various types, but not one that specialized in seafood.
Red became the common household name that it still is today during the 1970s, when it led national chain restaurants not only of seafood kinds, but all kinds. CEO Joe Lee says of the 70s, “Our biggest competition back then was the kitchen stove”.
Along with the Olive Garden, Red and Bahama Breeze restaurants are contained as ‘Darden Restaurants’ in order to provide a more upscale atmosphere I some markets, as well as expand upon the common success of Red with pseudo Italian cuisine such as that of the Olive Garden.
Red restaurants continue to change and grow to meet customer standards. From their Feast to everyday dishes like Alaskan crab and red snapper, Red is a nice way to celebrate your family by treating everyone to the seafood of their choice.
